Louisiana Republican congressman Steve Scalise was shot this morning while particvipating in a practice for a charity baseball game between Republicans and Democrats scheduled for Thursday night.
Scaliuse, the GOP majority Whip in Congress was among 5 shot by a crazed gunman shortly after 7:00am in Arlington, Virgina. The gunman allegedly asked another congressman whether those were Republicans or Democrats on the field practicing. He was told they were Republicans. About ten miniutes later, the gunman opened fire from behind the fence on the thiurd-base side of the field. Scalise was at the second base position when the shooting started, Scalise was the only congressman shot, while acongressional staffer was also hit. Alsp shot were the two Capitol police opfficers assigned to Scalise's security detail.
Despite their wounds, the two officers were able to return fire and take down the gunman, identified as 66 year-old James T. Hodgkinson. Hodgkinson was out for Republicans only, and reportedly stated "It's time to destroy Trump and Co,".
The shooter is a former home inspector from Illinois, whose license was not renewed after it expired in November of 2016. According to sources at the ballfield this morning, Hodgkinson asked if those were democrats or republicans on the field. It is now clear the shooter was targeting GOP lawmakers, and had enough ammunition to reload several times, firing more as many as 100 rounds of ammunition. Police were quick to state this was not related to terrorism.
How can any police official determine this was not terrorism? A gunman shoots five people, targeting GOP lawmakers, and had it not been for the security detail present to protect Mr. Scalise, it likely would have been the worst [political massacre in U.S. history. How is that NOT defined as terrorism?
Police are so quick to make that statement that it seems mindless and servile to the politically correct media.
We here at The JJ McCartney Show will not be servile to the Politically Correct thought police. This was terrorism in it's simplest form. This was a deliberate, premeditated attack on one of our governmental institutions. Dismissing the possibility of terrorism is an exercise in subservience to a thought process and paradigm that has led to the moral decline of our society, and has set the stage for more and more of these attacks by unhinged and angry people whose hatred is stoked by the hateful rhetoric spe3wed from the left at the GOP since well before the election of Donald Trump.
