Biblical: Mexico Quake death toll rises, while Marie crushes Puerto Rico

Mexico, Puerto Rico reeling from Natural Disasters

Mexico death toll rising above 225

Mexico is reeling one day after a 7.1 earthquake struck about 75 miles southeast of the capital in the Puebla region of Mexico. dozens of buildings have collapsed, including schools,. and office buildings, as some hospitals and other buildings have been deemed unsafe and ordered evacuated.

Expert crews from Los Angeles are enroute to aide in searching for survivors in the rubble.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Maria directly slammed into Puerto Rico this morning as a strong Category 4 hurricane. Roofs have been flying off of homes, and hurricane force winds and heavy rains have made rescues nearly impossible today. The American territory faces damage “not seen before in modern history”.

The storm is churning its way toward Hispaniola, as the Dominican Republic, and the Turks and Caicos islands, as well as the Bahamas could also see devastation in the days to come.

The storm was blamed for 7 deaths in Dominica, and that toll is expected to rise as well.

In Puerto Rico, floods, landslides, wiped out roads, bridges and downed power lines are just a few of the things the people of Puerto Rico have to cope with.

The new legislation faces opposition from Kentucky GOP senator Rand Paul, as the bill’s proponents search desperately for a 50th vote for the plan, which would be passed on a tie-breking vote by Vice President Mike Pence.

The GOP faces plenty of backlash from voters who expected action from the Republicans in congress after most senators ran on the platform of repealing and replacing Obamacare.
