Friday November 30th 2018 Anchorage Alaska Earthquake

As you may know, I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska.

I got a text message this morning from my brother, who told me they just had a major earthquake, and that power was out throughout the city.

Anchorage is home to about 400,000 people, and the entire are is home to roughly 550,000 people.

Highways, overpasses, bridges and other infrastructure have suffered major damage. Travel to and from the the Matanuska Valley, including Palmer and Wasilla is virtually impossible. The Anchorage International Airport is closed as they inspect for damage, there are broken water mains, gas lines and electricity remains sporadic in many areas.

Sinkholes, overpasses, roadways broken up by landslides, Broken water lines in buildings, and much more is being reported. Including an apartment building fire, and much more.

The earthquake struck at 8:29am local time, a magnitude 7.0 quake, and many frequent aftershocks are being reported as well.

We will talk about the quake, and will speak with eyewitnesses.
