Monday Rundown: Mysterious booms heard around the world. Manson dead. Great news and comment.

Monday: America prepares for Thanksgiving, as news cycle takes a back seat to tradition.

As America prepares for the festive Thanksgiving holiday, news is still happening all around the world.

Yesterday we learned that notorious mass-murderer and cult leader Charles Manson died in prison, where he was serving 9 consecutive life sentences for a series of grisly murders that too place in California almost 5 decades ago.

Elsewhere: Actor and singer/performer David Cassidy died over the weekend.

Cassidy was previously admitted and stricken with dementia, and his health further deteriorated over the last two months. His publicist, JoAnn Geffen confirmed his passing Saturday evening; noting, “It is with deepest sorrow that I inform you of the death of David Cassidy.”

In February, he was a guest on the Dr. Phil show, and talked about falling on stage and forgetting the lyrics to one of his songs during a  performance.

“When friends of yours or family members begin to say to you, ‘Remember, I just told you this two days ago,’ and there’s no memory of it, that’s when I began to be very concerned,” he said on the show.

Cassidy was one of the stars of “The Partridge Family”, and was the son of the late actor Jack Cassidy and his TV Mom, Shirley Jones. Cassidy’s brother Sean followed in his older brother’s footsteps, and was a TV actor and musician in the 1970’s.

David Cassidy was 67.
